Public Meeting to be Held September 18 to Discuss US 30 Freeway Project

Public Meeting to be Held September 18 to Discuss US 30 Freeway Project

Officials from the City of Warsaw and Kosciusko County have been working with six other counties along US 30 corridor to address the States’ long-term plans to improve safety and traffic flow along the highway.   Design and engineering will not begin until project funding is identified and an environmental study has been completed.  Community conversations and planning discussion have begun in all seven counties of the US 30 Coalition.  An initial public meeting was held In May of 2018 to begin local discussion.

City of Warsaw and Kosciusko County officials, in partnership with local stakeholders, representatives from the US 30 Coalition, and the Michiana Area Council on Government (MACOG), will host a second public meeting on Wednesday, September 18, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Elementary School gymnasium, located at 203 North Lincoln Street in Warsaw.   The focus of the meeting will be to review options for the proposed freeway.  Those in attendance will have the opportunity to ask questions and comment on the project.  Elected officials will be present.

A freeway project, similar to the US 31 project from South Bend to Indianapolis, is designed to limit access in an effort to improve safety and traffic flow.  As this project will have a significant local impact, residents and business owners are strongly encouraged to attend and participate in this important conversation.  Community input will play a vital role towards the final project design.
